How to prepare an IT decision in renewable energy
A useful assessment starts with an operational map: sites, users, applications, equipment, vendors, change windows and owners. In renewable energy, the priority is to understand remote connectivity, OT/IT separation and asset continuity; a product list without that context cannot support a comparable option or a realistic scope.

The asset map links each site, control network, inverter or controller, communications path, remote-access method and O&M owner. Terrain, carrier availability and maintenance windows are recorded because they materially change a remote-site design.

Testing covers loss of the primary link, authorised remote access, alert delivery and restoration of a selected configuration or system. Results are reviewed with operations before the pattern is reused across other plants or storage assets.

Handover includes current diagrams, access ownership, known offline periods, monitoring thresholds and vendor dependencies. Availability statements come from measured windows, while field attendance remains subject to confirmed location and access.
Documentation remains useful through a visible date, version and owner. Assumptions that have not yet been verified stay marked as assumptions and do not become commercial commitments.
